Fundraising |
|
Fundraising can be great fun and a great way of raising awareness of the
poverty in other parts of the world. There are loads of ways you can
raise money, here are just a few fundraising ideas that you could use in
your church or local community. Click on each idea for more info. |

| A Car Boot
Sale |
| A car
boot sale is very easily organized if you have access to a church or
school car park. Simply place advertising posters in the local area with
the time and location of the car boot sale and charge each car that
comes £5 or £10 for a car and trailer etc. Get as many friends or
relatives to bring a car as well and they can donate the money from the
brick a brack that they sell from their cars. |
| A Table Quiz |
| If you can ask a local
community group, church or school to lend you their hall then you will
have an ideal setting for a table quiz. Approach 6 or 7 people you know
and ask them to get together 5 of 6 friends each for their team and
charge an admission fee of approximately £5 each. It can be a great
nights fun and it is a good way of raising a couple of hundred pounds. |
| A Sponsored
Event |
| A sponsored event is a very
good way to raise a lot of money quite quickly. Instead of getting
people to sponsor you in a certain event it is much more effective to
organize a sponsored walk and encourage as many people as possible to
take part. This way each person involved will then approach their circle
of friends and therefore funds are being collected from a much larger
population than just the people you know. |

A Coin Chain |
| Approach a local primary
school or an organization where there are a large number of people and
ask them to start collecting their loose change. Set a date for a couple
of months down the line and get everyone to bring their loose change
along and pour it all out on the floor and see what length of a coin
chain can be made by setting out each coin end to end. You could then
organize the event to take place again in another couple of months and
see if you can beat the previous chain. This is a great event for young
children to take part in. |
| Bag Packing |
| This is a great idea for a
church youth fellowship or a youth club to do. You could write a letter
to a local supermarket requesting for a number of people to help at the
checkout with packing peoples shopping. Bring a bucket with you to set
at each checkout for people to throw their loose change into. You can
collect quite a lot of money over a number of checkouts with bag packing
for a couple of hours. |

| Fireside Quiz
Sheets |
| It is quite easy to make up a
list of approximately 20 general knowledge questions or uncompleted
proverbs etc that people can fill in the answers to and post back to
you. You could print out many of these sheets and sell them along with
your friends for £1 each and offer a first prize of £10 - £20. |
